Drake’s (Canada, b. Aubrey Drake Graham) fifth studio album Scorpion amassed 745.92 million on-demand official streams when it debuted at No.1 on the US Billboard 200 on 14 July 2018. There was a sting in the tail for Scorpion on 4 May 2024, however, when Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD) logged an incredible 891.34 million on-demand official streams to start at No.1, smashing her own female record of 549.26 million (for Midnights on 5 November 2022) and also Drake’s long-held male record – although the rapper still has the four most streamed albums by a male artist in one week in US chart history: Scorpion, Certified Lover Boy (743.67 million on 18 September 2021), For All the Dogs (514.01 million on 21 October 2023) and his 21 Savage collaboration Her Loss (513.56 million on 19 November 2022).

Figures published by Spotify for the week ending 5 July 2018 – the period covering the album’s first seven days of availability – revealed that “Nonstop” was the most listened-to track from Scorpion on the platform’s “Weekly Top Songs USA” chart, with almost 25 million plays across the week. Drake occupied the top 13 positions on the chart, and 18 spots in the top 20.
