Four musicals have been seven-time winners at a single Laurence Olivier Awards ceremony: Roald Dahl's Matilda: The Musical (2012, from nine nominations); Hamilton: An American Musical (2018, from 13 nominations), Cabaret (2022, from 11 nominations); and Sunset Boulevard (2024, from 11 nominations).
The 2023 West End revival of Sunset Boulevard at the Savoy Theatre took a share of the spoils after picking up seven statuettes at the 2024 Olivier Awards, hosted by London’s Royal Albert Hall on 14 April. It won Best Musical Revival, Best Actor in a Musical (Tom Francis), Best Actress in a Musical (Nicole Scherzinger), Best Director (Jamie Lloyd), Best Lighting Design (Jack Knowles), Best Sound Design (Adam Fisher) and Outstanding Musical Contribution (Alan Williams).
Two plays have won at least seven Oliviers at a single ceremony: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time claimed seven awards in 2013, while Harry Potter and the Cursed Child scooped a single-night record nine awards in 2017.
