The ensemble stretched their lead over The Tragically Hip (46), Rush (41) and Nickelback (40) with two nominations for the 2024 edition of the JUNOS, presented by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, on 24 March: Classical Album of the Year (Large Ensemble), for Mahler: Symphony No.5; and Francophone Album of the Year, for En concert avec l'Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (Sous la direction du chef Simon Leclerc), a live collaboration with the Québécois folk-rock band Les Cowboys Fringants. The latter provided the orchestra with their 19th JUNO award – no group has won more awards in the 54-year history of the JUNOS.
Overall, Céline Dion (75) and Bryan Adams (63) were the only two acts with more JUNO Awards nominations than Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, as of 24 March 2024.
The orchestra celebrates its 90th anniversary in 2025. Its run of success at the JUNO Awards has been overseen by music directors Charles Dutoit (1977-2002), Kent Nagano (2006-20) and Rafael Payare (2022-present).
