The first electric hydrofoil ferry is the P-12 prototype Zero, built by Candela Technology (Sweden), which completed its test "flight" program in the waterways around Stockholm, Sweden, on 16 November 2023.

The P-12 measures 11.99 by 4.5m (39.34 x 14.76 ft) and its 252 kWh battery drives two Candela C-PODs with a maximum output of 340 kW. It carries up to 30 passengers and has a service speed of 25 knots (maximum 30 knots) and a range of 40-50 nautical miles.

It comes in three variants: P-12 Shuttle, P-12 Business and P-12 Voyager. The first Shuttle will debut on a Stockholm commuter route in 2024, having been exempted from the city’s water speed limits. A digital flight control system controls the hydrofoils angle of attack to provide a smooth ride.
