The RS-01 Robodog, manufactured by Roboscience, measures 82x67x37 cm 32x26x14 inches. Strong enough to lift a five-year-old child, the RS-01 is far larger and more powerful than its nearest rivals.
Robodog has an internal computer which runs on Microsoft Windows. It connects remotely to the internet via a radio transmitter and can monitor and read out emails sent to its owner. Productions versions will let owners see the dog's surroundings remotely via an onboard video camera.
Robodog can operate in an autonomous mode where it can think for itself and make its own computer decisions.
In explorer mode, the owner takes command via a PC or with voice control.
RoboDog contains 64MB of RAM. His creator, Nick Wirth said 'my golden retriever Sky regards him (RoboDog) as a noisy video recorder on legs that doesn't smell!' Long term uses of this technology include minesweeping and reconnaisance.
RoboDog is so agile that it can climb obstacles and perform headstands. It is made of advanced carbon fibre and Kevlar, the same materials used in formula 1 cars - making the whole dog weigh 12 kg 26lbs
