The record for the most No.1s ever achieved by an individual who has had at least one solo No.1 is held by Paul McCartney who had had 21 between 1963 - 1989. Broken down, along with the 17 he held with the Beatles, there has been 'Pipes of Peace' in 1983 as a solo artist,  'Mull of Kintyre' with Wings in 1977, the duet 'Ebony and Ivory' with Stevie Wonder in 1982 and the 1989 hit 'Ferry 'Cross the Mersey' performed with the Christians, Holly Johnson and Gerry Marsden.
