At the 68th Grammy Awards on 1 February 2026, Billie Eilish and her singer/songwriter/producer brother Finneas O’Connell (both USA) were crowned three-time winners of the prestigious Song of the Year award. The duo’s “Wildflower”, from Eilish’s third studio album Hit Me Hard and Soft (2024), was the track to break a multiple-artist tie with two-time winners that include the four members of U2 (2001 and 2006), Adele (2012 and 2017), Bruno Mars (2018 and 2022) and the category’s first back-to-back winner, Dernst “D’Mile” Emile II (2021–22). Eilish and O’Connell had previously scooped Song of the Year for the Barbie soundtrack favourite “What Was I Made For?” (2024) and “Bad Guy” (2020).
“Wildflower” fended off some stiff competition in the Song of the Year category. The field included Bad Bunny’s “DTMF”, Sabrina Carpenter’s “Manchild”, Kendrick Lamar’s “Luther”, Bruno Mars & Rosé’s “APT.” and the K-Pop Demon Hunters earworm “Golden”, performed by HUNTR/X.
Eilish (10 wins from 34 nominations) and O’Connell (11 wins from 26 nominations) have been two of the most prolific Grammy winners since the former made history at the 62nd edition in 2020 by becoming only the second artist ever – after Christopher Cross – to make a clean sweep of the Grammys’ four ‘General Field’ (aka “Big Four”) categories in a single night.
Song of the Year is awarded to the track’s composer(s) – which has also happened to be the recording artist since the 46th Grammys in 2004.
