When

At the 66th Grammy Awards on 4 February 2024, Billie Eilish and her singer/songwriter/producer brother Finneas O’Connell (aka FINNEAS, both USA) added their names to the list of artists who have won the prestigious Song of the Year award twice. The duo penned the Barbie soundtrack favourite “What Was I Made For?”, which scooped the trophy after “Bad Guy” had done the same at the 62nd edition of the Grammys in 2020. The four individual members of U2 (2001 and 2006), Adele (2012 and 2017), Bruno Mars (2018 and 2022) and the category’s first back-to-back winner, Dernst “D’Mile” Emile II (2021–22), are among the other two-time Song of the Year winners.

Song of the Year, awarded to the composer (which has also been the recording artist since the 46th Grammys in 2004), has also been won twice by Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer (together, in 1962 and 1964), James Horner (1988 and 1999), Will Jennings (1993 and 1999) and Christopher “Brody” Brown (2018 and 2022).
