Anna Blinkova (Russia) won the deciding set of her second round match against third seed Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan) 7–6 (22–20) at the Australian Open on 18 January 2024. At 42 points, it was the longest-ever tie-break in a Grand Slam singles match – male or female.

On her 10th match point, Blinkova progressed 6–4, 4–6, 7–6 (22-20) against the tournament’s 2023 finalist. Third seed Rybakina spurned six match points of her own in a third set that lasted 93 minutes on Rod Laver Arena.

It lasted four points longer than the breakers contested by Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Andy Roddick at the Australian Open (first set) on 15 January 2007, and by Lesia Tsurenko and Ana Bogdan at Wimbledon (third set) on 7 July 2023 – both won 7–6 (20–18), by Tsonga and Tsurenko.
