Most expensive Spider-Man comic

A copy of The Amazing Spider-Man #1 was purchased for $1.38 million (£1.1 million) in a sale by Heritage Auctions, based in Dallas, Texas, USA, on 11 January 2024. First published in March 1963 – for a cover price of just 12 cents – it marked the launch of Spider-Man in his own comic-book title, and included the character’s origin story as well as a team-up with the Fantastic Four.

Spider-Man was created by Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko and debuted in 1962 in Amazing Fantasy #15. The most expensive comic is currently a copy of this issue that was sold for $3.6 million (£2.6 million; €3 million) by Heritage Auctions on 9 September 2021.
