The largest tidal stream power generating facility is the Shetland Tidal Array, located in the Bluemull Sound in the Shetland Islands, UK. It consists of six Nova M100 seabed-anchored tidal stream turbines with a combined generating capacity of 600 kW. The tidal array was developed by Nova Innovation (UK) and deployed in stages between 2016 and 2023.
When the Shetland Tidal Array began operation in 2016, it had three subsea turbines. A fourth turbine called Eunice was introduced in 2020, and three years later, two more turbines named Grace and Hali Hope were installed.
