At 38 years 295 days, Joe Pavelski (USA, b. 11 July 1984) of the Dallas Stars became the oldest National Hockey League (NHL) player to score four goals in a Stanley Cup playoff game. He accomplished this at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, on 2 May 2023, during Game 1 of their second-round series against the Seattle Kraken. The Stars lost 5-4.
The record was previously held by Maurice Richard of the Montreal Canadiens (both Canada), who was 35 years 255 days when he scored four goals in Game 1 of the 1957 Stanley Cup Final against the Boston Bruins.
