The most weeks at No. 1 on The Official MENA Chart is 15, achieved by Rema (b. Divine Ikubor; Nigeria) with his single “Calm Down”, as of 7 December 2023.

The infectious track, which owes much of its worldwide success to a remix featuring Selena Gomez, spent 15 non-consecutive weeks at No.1 between 29 November 2022 and 20 April 2023.

“Calm Down” also holds the record for being the first No.1 hit on The Official MENA Chart.

Other multiple-week MENA chart-toppers include “Ader Akmel” by Ahmed Saad (Egypt; 3 weeks at No.1), “Ymken Kher” by Ramy Sabry (Egypt; 3), “Asheq Majnoon” by Mahmoud Al Turky (Kuwait; 8), “Mekhasmak” by Nawal (Morocco; 9) and “Bleeding” by TalkinToys (United Arab Emirates; 3). Non-MENA artists such as Miley Cyrus and BTS soloists Jimin and Jung Kook (three times) have also topped the year-old chart.

The weekly top 20 collects data from major streaming platforms across 13 MENA countries, covering a population of more than 300 million people: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates.

The Official MENA Chart monitors streams from Apple Music, Deezer, Spotify, YouTube and Anghami – the first legal music streaming platform in the Middle East and North Africa, which launched in Lebanon in 2012.
