Génesis by Peso Pluma (Mexico, b. Hassan Laija) registered 73,000 equivalent album units to debut at No.3 on the Billboard 200 and climb to No.1 on their Regional Mexican Albums chart for the week ending 8 July 2023, according to Luminate (formerly Nielsen SoundScan).

Génesis began its US chart life by scoring the biggest week for a regional Mexican album since the Billboard 200 started ranking albums by units earned in December 2014, dwarfing the 44,000 units that launched Eslabon Armado’s Desvelado to No.6 on the Billboard 200 and No.1 on the Regional Mexican Albums chart on 13 May 2023.

The No.3 debut of Génesis also set a new peak position for a regional Mexican album on the Billboard 200.

An equivalent album unit equals one album sale or 10 individual tracks sold from an album (track equivalent album units, TEA), or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album (streaming equivalent album units, SEA).

Of Génesis’ total of 73,000, 72,000 came from SEA units (equal to 101.18 million on-demand official streams), less than 1,000 were from traditional album sales, and a negligible number came from TEA units.
