The oldest driver to finish a Formula One Grand Prix is Louis Chiron (Monaco, b. 3 August 1899), who was aged 55 years 292 days when he finished sixth at the Monaco Grand Prix on 22 May 1955.

Chiron was already 50 years old when Formula One began its inaugural season in 1950. Nicknamed “Le Vieux Renard” (The Old Fox), he started 15 of the 19 F1 races he entered between 1950 and 1958, recording his last finish at Monaco in 1955 while driving for Scuderia Lancia. Chiron remains the only Monégasque to have won the Monaco Grand Prix (in 1931, driving for Bugatti). His name lives on in the Bugatti Chiron supercar.
