- When
- 01 January 0001
The record for the longest distance travelled by a drift seed belongs to Mary's Bean Merremia discoidesperma. It has the widest documented drift range for any seed or tropical fruit, travelling over 24,140 km (15,000 miles) from the Marshall Islands in the north Pacific Ocean to the beaches of Norway. The bean can be traced along this distance as it only comes from a few locations in the Pacific and has been researched by the world's authority on drift seeds Dr. Charles R. Gunn.
