Deandra Dottin’s (Barbados) 38-ball hundred for the West Indies against South Africa in the first match of the ICC Women’s World T20 at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts, on 5 May 2010 – also the fastest hundred in international cricket (female) – included nine sixes and five fours, with her second fifty coming off just 12 balls. No.6 batter Dottin finished on 112 not out from 45 balls, with a strike rate of 248.88 runs per 100 balls faced, as the tournament got off to an explosive start.

More than 13 years after the event (as of 27 October 2023), the closest any woman has got to matching Deandra Dottin’s 38-ball T20I blitz is the 46 deliveries it took Australia’s Alyssa Healy to reach the landmark against Sri Lanka at the North Sydney Oval in Australia on 2 October 2019.
