Karen Rolton’s (Australia) 57-ball blitz against South Africa at the BIL Oval (aka the Bert Sutcliffe Oval) in Lincoln, New Zealand, on 13 December 2000 is the fastest hundred scored at the Women’s Cricket World Cup since the availability of ball-by-ball data in 1997. Chasing South Africa’s modest 169 for 8, Rolton hit 17 boundaries in bringing up her historic ton, finishing on 107 not out from 67 balls as Australia (171 for 1) won at a canter with exactly half of their 50 overs to spare.
Australia captain Belinda Clark’s 64-ball ton against Denmark in Mumbai, India, on 16 December 1997, on her way to a One-Day International record 229 not out, was previously the fastest Women’s Cricket World Cup century.
