Fatboy Slim (aka Norman Quentin Cook, UK) has won nine MTV Video Music Awards: three for “Praise You” in 1999 (Breakthrough Video, Best Direction and Best Choreography) and six for “Weapon of Choice” in 2001 (Breakthrough Video, Best Direction and Best Choreography, Best Art Direction, Best Editing and Best Cinematography).

At the time, the latter awards made Cook the fifth act, and only the second solo artist after Peter Gabriel (“Sledgehammer”), to take home as many as six “moon person” statuettes for a single video.

After the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards on 12 September, four female artists had won the most awards in the 40-year history of the event: Beyoncé (27), Taylor Swift (23), Madonna (20) and Lady Gaga (18). Peter Gabriel (13) and Eminem (13) are the leading male winners, and R.E.M. (12) have collected more awards than any other group.
