Over her career, restaurants owned by Anne-Sophie Pic (France) have earned 10 Michelin stars to date, making her the most decorated female chef in the history of the culinary award. Pic is the third-generation executive chef of the Maison Pic hotel in Valence, France, which first earned three-star status in 1934 (when owned by André Pic), and regained a third star in 2007 under Anne-Sophie's stewardship after losing it in 1992 following the death of her father, Jacques Pic.

Anne-Sophie Pic now also owns restaurants in Paris and Megève as well as outside France in Switzerland, the UK and Singapore.

Just behind Pic currently with seven Michelin stars is the Catalan chef Carme Ruscalleda (Spain), however she retired in 2018, closing her flagship three-star Sant Pau restaurant in Sant Pol de Mar, Catalonia, Spain.

The most decorated Michelin-starred chef of all time was fellow French chef/restaurateur Joël Robuchon (1945–2018), who in 2016 held an unprecedented 32 stars across 13 different countries. Among living chefs, the current holder is Alain Ducasse (France), with a total of 21 stars to date, across 34 restaurants in seven countries.

It's worth noting that Michelin stars are technically awarded to restaurants, as opposed to chefs, but it's generally recognized within the industry and beyond that the executive chef(s) of a restaurant to receive a Michelin star are also considered a recipient of the award given their significant contribution to the achievement.
