An Assyrian love song to an Ugaritic god, c. 1,800BC, was reconstructed from a tablet of notation for an 11-string lyre, at the University of California, Berkeley, USA on March 6, 1974.
The tablets were excavated in Syria in the 1950's by French archaeologists at the acient city of Ugarit (now known as Ras Shamra).
