“Flowers” by Miley Cyrus (USA, b. Destiny Cyrus) reached 1 billion streams faster than any other track by a female artist on Spotify, doing so on its 112th day of availability: 4 May 2023. Also the quickest track to register 100 million streams (on the eighth day after its 13 January 2023 release), “Flowers” smashed a number of streaming records on its way to the 1-billion landmark, including an unprecedented 115,156,896 plays for the week ending 26 January 2023.
Additionally, the track logged 82 non-consecutive days at No.1 on Spotify’s “Daily Top Songs Global” chart (15 January–14 April 2023), and, as of 20 September 2023, exactly half of the positions on the platform’s top 20 most streamed tracks in 24 hours were occupied by “Flowers”.
By 20 September 2023, it had amassed 1,474,839,602 streams and had surged ahead of “Party in the U.S.A.”, with 1,320,130,332 plays, previously Cyrus’ most listened-to track on Spotify.
Surpassing "Flowers" later in 2023, the fastest to reach 1 billion overall is now the “explicit version” of “Seven” by Jung Kook (South Korea, b. Jeon Jung-kook) feat. Latto (USA, b. Alyssa Stephens), which reached the milestone on 30 October 2023, 109 days following its worldwide release on 14 July 2023.
