The tallest Samai (Pooja lamp) was made in Nagpur, Maharashtra, India, by the Banait family and helpers. The lamp stands at a height of 48 ft 15 m with a 12 ft 4 m diameter base and has 24 lighted flames.
The lamp cost Rs. 1.50 lakhs or approx $3,350. The Samai (a traditional worship lamp) was first erected in the Jerryl-yash Lawns, Nagpur, on November 5, 1999.
