Lake Superior, on the border between Canada and the USA, has the greatest area of any freshwater lake in the world. It covers 82,414 km² (31,820 sq mi). At its longest, the lake measures around 563 km (349 mi) in length, with a width of 257 km (159 mi). It is 406 m (1,332 ft) at its deepest.
