The first female Last Night of the Proms conductor was Marin Alsop (USA), who performed at the Royal Albert Hall on 7 September 2013.
Marin became principal conductor of the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (OSESP), in 2012, before her debut as the first woman to conduct the Last Night of the Proms in the festival's 119-season history.
