The largest working light switch has a switch plate measuring 12.19 m. (40 ft.) tall by 7.13 m. (24 ft.) wide with a mechanical toggle base approximately 2.43 m. (8 ft.) in height which moves through 2.28 m. (7 ft. 6 in.) in either the on or off position. It is located on the Broadway-facing facade of the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square, New York City, USA.
When on, the toggle itself is internally illuminated, as is the letters of the logo "Con Edison". The logo letters have rear mounted random sequencing strobe lights that reflect onto the switch plate. The switch also turns on an additional "Con Edison" light-box display, a fiber-optic light pipe between the two displays and two 7.62 m. (25 ft.) tall vertical neon light pipes that simulate pumping power into the building behind them. The overall display requires approximately 400 amps to run. The display was created by Consolidated Edison Inc, one of the United States' leading energy companies.
