The attempt took place on open ground and the line of saplings was set up as a spiral circling outwards from a centre point with length measuring 22.22 km (72,900 ft). The saplings were placed next to each other in continuous line with no gaps. Saplings were indigenous to Assam and were natural, in good health and commercially available.
