In the first 24 hours of it appearing on SoundCloud on 31 December 2018, “Promise” by Jimin (South Korea, b. Park Ji-min) attracted 8.5 million plays. “Promise” went on to become the platform’s most streamed track since it launched in 2008. By 17 June 2023, it had amassed 330 million streams.


Drake’s “Duppy Freestyle”, released on 25 May 2018, had held SoundCloud’s 24-hour record with 4.9 million streams.
