Previously, the record was held by Raza’s fellow countryman Mushtaq Mohammad (b. India, 22 Nov 1943), who was 15 years 124 days old when he made his debut for Pakistan against the West Indies on 26 March 1959.

He scored 235 runs in 10 innings, at an average of 26.11 runs per innings. His 20-year first-class career realised 13,949 runs in 360 innings (average 44.70).
