Novak Djokovic (Serbia) is the only man in Grand Slam history to have won each of the four major tournaments on the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) calendar at least three times. He completed the set by winning the French Open in Paris on 11 June 2023 at the age of 36. Djokovic had previously won the Australian Open in 2008, 2011–13, 2015–16, 2019–21 and 2023, Wimbledon in 2011, 2014–15, 2018–19 and 2021–22, the US Open in 2011, 2015 and 2018 and the French Open in 2016 and 2021. His latest triumph on clay on Court Philippe-Chatrier, where he defeated Norway’s Casper Ruud in straight sets (7–6, 6–3, 7–5), saw him lift a Grand Slam trophy for a record 23rd time to break a tie with 22-time winner Rafael Nadal.
The “Triple Career Grand Slam” could first have been set in 1907 – the third edition of the Australian Open, the last of the four majors to be established. From that event until the 2023 French Open, a total of 436 men’s singles titles have been awarded at Grand Slams. The closest any man has got to winning all four tournaments at least three times is Roger Federer, whose 20 titles were won at Wimbledon (8) and in Australia (6), the USA (5) and France (1). Nadal has won the Australian Open and Wimbledon twice, the US Open four times and the French Open on a record 14 occasions.
In the women’s game, Margaret Court (Australia), Steffi Graf (Germany) and Serena Williams (USA) have all won at least three titles at each of the four Grand Slams.
