The longest piece of blackboard chalk was made by Vladimír Micenke and workers of his firm, Amice Košice, in Košice, Slovakia. A piece of red chalk, it was 15.52 m (50 ft 11 in) in length and 18 mm (0.7 in) in diameter.
The recording-breaking chalk was actually the second piece the team made, the first white piece of chalk measured 13.5 m (44 ft 3 in) but they decided that wasn't big enough. The chalk was made by pouring material into an intestine more usually used to make sausages. A representative from Swiss-based inspection company SGS was present for independent confirmation of the chalk length.
