Rob Thomas); Best Rock Album (Supernatural); Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals (“Put Your Lights On”, feat. Everlast); Best Rock Instrumental Performance (“The Calling”, feat. Eric Clapton); Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals (“Maria Maria”); Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals (“Smooth”); and Best Pop Instrumental Performance (“El Farol”). Additionally, “Smooth” won Song of the Year, with the award going to the writers (Itaal Shur and Rob Thomas) rather than Santana.
With nine awards in total, Supernatural shares the record for the most decorated album ever at the Grammys with U2’s How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, which collected nine of the iconic gramophone trophies in 2005-06 - including Dismantle producer Steve Lillywhite's Producer of the Year - Non-Classical award.
