On 28 February 2006, it was revealed that actress, Reese Witherspoon (USA) negotiated a pay deal worth $29 million (then £17 million) to star in Our Family Trouble, a horror film which Witherspoon will also produce. The deal is based on her wage as an actress, plus a percentage of box office takings depending upon the film's success. Five days later, Witherspoon won the Oscar for Best Actress for her portrayal of June Carter in Walk the Line (USA 2005).
This figure beats Julia Roberts' $25 million (then £15.2 million) for her role in Mona Lisa Smile (USA 2003)
