The longest working pacemaker was a lithium battery-powered Biotec 777 fitted into János Szilágyi (Hungary) on 18 January 1979 and last confirmed on 2 September 2002 to be operating as normal.

Szilágyi's consultant Dr Ferenc Wórum has carried out regular checks on the pacemaker which, as of the last check on 7 April 2000, had operated on the same battery for 21 years 80 days.

The pacemaker was removed on 26 June 2006 at the Department of Surgery II, Medical University of Debrecen by Dr. Géza Horváth.
