The most consecutive losses by a racehorse is 87 by Zippy Chippy a 9-year-old New York-bred gelding owned and trained by Felix Monserrate. His latest second place came on September 8, 2000 at the Three-County Fair held in Northampton, Massachusetts, United States.
Zippy Chippy has registered seven second-place finishes, including a loss by only a neck on Oct. 3, 1995. There have also been 10 third-places in a career that began with an eighth-place finish at Belmont Park in 1994. Monserrate, who bought Zippy Chippy for $2,500 (£1,555) in 1995, says: 'Not everybody can be a winner... He's a horse that has personality.'
