At the 2nd annual Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Governors Awards on 13 November 2010, the actor Eli Wallach (USA, b. 7 December 1915) – who most famously portrayed Tuco ("The Ugly") in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Italy/Spain/West Germany/USA, 1966) – received an Academy Honorary Award at the age of 94 years 341 days. The Oscar acknowledged Wallach's lifetime achievements, celebrating a body of work that spanned seven decades.

The BAFTA-, Emmy- and Tony-Award-winning Wallach (7 December 1915–24 June 2014) enjoyed one of the longest careers in showbusiness. He made his Broadway debut in 1945 and filmed his last movie – a short entitled The Train (USA) – in 2015. In between, he racked up more than 170 acting credits, including roles in The Magnificent Seven (USA, 1960), The Misfits (USA, 1961), How the West was Won (USA, 1962) and The Godfather Part III (USA, 1990).

He took the record from actress Lauren Bacall (USA), who, in the previous year, had become an Honoree aged 85 years 59 days. The oldest actress Honoree is now Maureen O'Hara (Ireland/USA), who picked up her statuette aged 94 years 83 days in 2014. Other senior acting Honorees include Angela Lansbury (88 years 31 days), Groucho Marx (83 years 182 days) and Charlie Chaplin (82 years 360 days).
