WOMAD (World of Music, Arts and Dance) is the world's largest international music festival, having presented 300 events across six continents since 1982. More than 10,000 artists have performed here over the years, entertaining millions of music lovers. Co-founded by former Genesis frontman Peter Gabriel (UK), WOMAD's worldwide profile includes annual events in Australia, North America, Japan and Europe. The central aim of WOMAD – billed as “The World’s Festival” – is to bring together and celebrate the many forms of music, arts and dance, drawn from countries and cultures from across the globe.

The event’s 40th anniversary was celebrated – after a COVID-enforced two-year hiatus – at WOMAD Charlton Park in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, UK, on 28–31 July 2022. Headline acts included Gilberto Gil & Family, Angélique Kidjo (holder of the record for the most world music album awards won at the Grammys – 5), Lianne La Havas, Nitin Sawhney, The Selecter and recording artist/poet/spoken-word performer Kae Tempest, who, in 2013, became the youngest recipient of the Ted Hughes Award for poetry, at the age of 27.
