The most recordings by a Qawaali artist is 125 albums, recorded by the popular Pakistani artist Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (b.1948-d.1997). His career spanned more than 30 years and included a 1997 Grammy nomination in the Traditional Folk Album category for his album 'Intoxicated Spirit'. He performed on the soundtracks of several films including Natural Born Killers and Dead Man Walking.  The word 'qawaali' derives from the Arabic word 'qual', which means 'belief' or 'credo'.
