The largest collection of Casper the Friendly Ghost memorabilia is 1,153 items and was achieved by Vanessa Irino (USA) in San Antonio, Texas, USA, on 25 October 2023.

Vanessa hopes this record shares the positivity and inclusivity that Casper represents while inspiring others to celebrate their passions.

Her love for Casper the Friendly Ghost began when she was five years old. "I saw the original Casper cartoons on television and immediately felt that he would be my friend because he accepted all the misfits, just like me", she told GWR. "Casper wasn’t scary; he was kind, lonely, and wanted nothing more than to be loved and understood. As a child who often felt invisible, that message meant everything."

Her great-grandmother once gave her a plush Casper for her birthday which became her most cherished possession. Years later, when her own son turned four, Vanessa gave him his first Casper plush. "Seeing his instant connection opened my eyes again to who I had always found comfort with and loved. We began collecting together - a shared joy that bonded us through generations."

The collection now includes toys, comics, clothing, artwork, VHS tapes, and rare international memorabilia. Many of Vanessa's most prized pieces come from Japan, found during annual visits there. Some of her favourite items include two screen-used props from the 1995 film, vintage 1950s and 1960s Casper toys, (including a pull-toy that still works), rare Japanese plushies, keychains, and accessories unavailable anywhere else.

A lifelong dream came true when Vanessa met many of the Casper movie cast - including Christina Ricci, who had been a hero of hers for over thirty years.

She has even released a book which shares her journey of finding identity and purpose through Casper!
