On 11 March 2023, KAROL G (Colombia, b. Carolina Giraldo Navarro) debuted at No.1 on the US Billboard 200 albums chart with her fourth studio effort, MAÑANA SERÁ BONITO (“Tomorrow Will Be Pretty”). The 17-track album – featuring the singles “PROVENZA”, “GATÚBELA” (feat. Maldy), “CAIRO” (feat. Ovy on the Drums), “X SI VOLVEMOS” (feat. Romeo Santos) and “TQG” (feat. Shakira) – knocked SZA’s SOS off the top spot after generating 94,000 album-equivalent units, including 118.73 million on-demand single-track streams, which represents the biggest-ever streaming week for a Latin album by a female artist.

MAÑANA SERÁ BONITO is the third all-Spanish-language album to lead the Billboard 200, following Bad Bunny’s EL ÚLTIMO TOUR DEL MUNDO (one week in 2020) and Un Verano Sin Ti (13 non-consecutive weeks in 2022). The last female artist to reach the top spot with a Spanish-language album before KAROL G was the American vocalist Selena (b. Selena Quintanilla Pérez, 1971–95), who scored a posthumous No.1 on 5 August 1995 with Dreaming of You, an album featuring tracks in Spanish and English. Since then, a number of chart-topping albums by female artists – Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, Nelly Furtado and Beyoncé included – have featured one or more Spanish-language tracks, either as part of the set’s standard edition or as bonus content on an alternative version of the album.
