The aim of the project is to create an electronic Domesday Book for the 21st century, made up of children's investigations into their local communities. By March 2001 a total of 133,986 pupils and 17,312 schools had registered for the project. The project was originally intended to finish at the end of 2000, but has proven so popular that it is still continuing.
