The quartet's previous best of 37.04 seconds, set in Daegu, South Korea, in September 2011, was matched by silver medallists the USA (Trell Kimmons, Justin Gatlin, Tyson Gay and Ryan Bailey). Jamaica also smashed the Olympic record - 37.10 seconds. Bolt, who anchored the Jamaican team, won his third gold medal of the London Games and achieved an unprecedented "double triple" - winning the 100 m, 200 m and 4 x 100 m at consecutive Games.
