Robert Leo "Bob" Sheppard (USA, b. 20 October 1910, d. 11 July 2010) was public address announcer for over 60 years, starting his career after WWII and working in particular with the MLB New York Yankees (1951-2007) and the NFL New York Giants (1956-2006). He called what turned out to be his final game, a 10-2 win over Seattle, on Sept. 5, 2007 for the Yankees. While he signed a two-year agreement after that, he became too ill to work and did not announce any games in the 2008-09 seasons.
His distinctive baritone and precise elocution became iconic aural symbols of both the old Yankee Stadium and Giants Stadium. Reggie Jackson famously nicknamed him "The Voice of God".
