The world's largest island on another island is Samosir in the Lake Toba, in Sumatra (Indonesia). It has an area of 630 Km² (243 m²).

The island is right in the middle of the lake and it is thought to have been created by subsequent upheavals between 30,000 and 100,000 years ago. It is the original home of the Toba Batak people and remains of their culture are of main interest to tourists.
