The most watched English-language show on Netflix in a single week was the supernatural coming-of-age comedy Wednesday, which logged 411,290,000 hours of viewing in the seven days ending 4 December 2022. The series, devised by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, is based on the character of Wednesday Addams, created by US cartoonist Charles Addams. It tells the story of the miscreant teenager's adventures when sent to the Nevermore Academy for outcasts – her parents' high-school alma mater – and stars Jenna Ortega in the title role.

Wednesday debuted in the previous week, clocking up 341,230,000 viewer hours and surpassing the mark of 335.01 million hours viewed of season four of Stranger Things in 30 May – 5 June 2022. Variety reported that more than 50 million households had tuned into the show during its first week. Word of mouth and widespread critical acclaim then saw the viewership swell, helping the show to become the first English-language series on Netflix to break the 400-million barrier. On 11 December 2022, Wednesday surpassed Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story to become the second most watched English-language show on Netflix behind Stranger Things season 4.

Previous Engish-language record holders include Bridgerton season 2 (251.74 million hours) and Inventing Anna (196 million). The overall record is held by the South Korea horror series Squid Game, which logged a peak weekly viewership of 571.76 million in 27 September – 3 October 2021.
