The most Olympic taekwondo gold medals won is 2, by Ha Tae-kyung (South Korea) who won gold in the men’s flyweight in 1988 and men’s welterweight in 1992. This was equalled by Chen Yi-an (Taiwan) in the women’s bantamweight in 1988 and lightweight division in 1992; and by Hwang Kyung-seon who won gold in the women’s middleweight in 2008 and 2012. The fourth athlete to equal the record is Jade Jones (UK) who won gold in the women’s featherweight division in 2012 and 2016.
Taekwondo became a full sport in the Sydney Olympics 2000, before this time it was only included in 1988 and 1992 as a demonstration sport.
