When shooting the 'Bullet time' sequence during the filming of The Matrix (USA 1999), 120 specially modified film cameras were used by directors Larry and Andy Wachowski (both USA) to achieve a panning shot of protagonist Neo (played by Keanu Reeves (CAN)) as he dodged bullets from a pursuer. The effect is now more commonly called time-slicing.
