The first open-water human-powered expedition completed entirely within the boundaries of the Southern Ocean was achieved by captain Fiann Paul (Iceland), Jamie Douglas-Hamilton (United Kingdom), Lisa Farthofer (Austria), Stefan Ivanov (Bulgaria) and Brian Krauskopf (USA), who rowed 407 nautical miles on the open waters of the Southern Ocean from King George Island, Antarctica to Laurie Island, Antarctica between 11 January and 17 January 2023 onboard ocean rowing boat Mrs Chippy.
