Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin (Republic of Ireland) holds 19 bells in its tower. Seven of them were added in November 1999 so to be used during the millennium celebrations. Each New Year, since 1400, the Cathedral has been the main focus of revelry, with thousands of Dubliners gathering to hear the bells playing at midnight. Christ Church became the first church in the world to have a ringing peal of 16 bells plus three semi-tone bells. The latter were acquired not only for the millennium celebrations but also for training beginner ringers.

One very curious aspect of Dublin is that there are two huge Protestant cathedrals (Christ Church and St. Patrick's) and none Catholic.
