The College Park Airport in Washington (US) is the oldest continuously operating airport in the world. It dates to 1909. The College Park Airport is a field of many "firsts". The following events occured in its runway: the first US postal service flight, first Army aviation school (the Wright brothers were contracted by the army to train the first two military pilots in 1909), first test of a bomb-dropping device and a machine gun from an airplane, the first test of radio navigational aids, first enlisted man do die in an airplane accident and the first controlled helicopter flight. The original size of the airport was of 260 acres but the current size is 40 acres. One hundred small aircraft are still based there.
