On 29 September 2022, Born Pink, the second full-length studio release by BLACKPINK (South Korea), became the first K-pop album by a female act to make it to No.1 on the UK’s Official Albums Chart. Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé had narrowly missed the top spot when their debut long-player, The Album, entered the UK chart at No.2 on 15 October 2020.
BLACKPINK followed the all-male K-pop group BTS to the summit: Map of the Soul: Persona (EP) and Map of the Soul: 7 both debuted at No.1, in April 2019 and March 2020 respectively.
